Isn’t it easy to get distracted and down about things that happen to you or to others?

I’m not really big into scripture memorization, but growing up we were required to memorize several of the Psalms for school.  The good thing about memorizing passages is that they seem to pop into your head at the moment you need them!  Are you upset and worried about problems?  Then memorize this verse:

Psalms 103:1-5

1 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

And all that is within me, bless His holy name.

2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,

And forget none of His benefits;

Think of all the troubles that David went through.  Think of all the troubles that YOU have been through!  Nothing removes troubles from your mind as well as remembering all the benefits of being a Christian.

Then David gets into some of the specific benefits:

3 Who pardons all your iniquities, (that’s one of my favorite words in the entire Bible – ALL!)

Who heals all your diseases;

4 Who redeems your life from the pit,

Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;

5 Who satisfies your years with good things,

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.

When you consider the fact that God has pardoned ALL your sins, and redeemed you, and crowned you with grace and mercy, doesn’t it make your problems seem insignificant?

Where do you think that God wants your mind to dwell?  On the problems you have, or on His benefits?

So when (not if, but when) troubles pray on your mind, take a step back, and remember all the benefits that God has bestowed on you.
