Psalms 91:1-4
1 He who dwells in
the shelter of the Most High
Will
abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
The word abide is the Hebrew word LOON, and it means to be at home somewhere, or to be comfortable.
Now, if we hold to tradition, Solomon answers his father:
2 I will say to the
LORD, "My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I
trust!"
The word trust has the connotation of turning over your troubles to someone. Just like 1 Peter 5:7 says, cast your troubles on the Lord!
Now David continues:
3 For it is He who
delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And
from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you
with His pinions,
And under His wings
you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a
shield and bulwark.
Satan, the trapper, has traps set for you. He knows your weakness! But we must realize that God always has the protection and deliverance whenever a problem comes our way. He faithfully covers us, and gives us refuge.

Psalms 17:8
8 Keep me as the
apple of the eye;
Hide me in the shadow
of Your wings
Deuteronomy 32:10-11
10 "He found him
in a desert land,
And in the howling
waste of a wilderness;
He encircled him, He
cared for him,
He guarded him as the
pupil of His eye.
11 "Like an
eagle that stirs up its nest,
That hovers over its
young,
He spread His
wings and caught them,
He carried them on
His pinions.
In Psalm 91:5-13, David tells Solomon more about what it means to live in the reality of God’s protection. I especially like verse 9:
Psalms 91:9
9 For
you have made the LORD, my refuge,
Even
the Most High, your dwelling place.
This place of protection is REAL, no matter what you face. The key is dwelling and abiding.
The word dwelling place is the word MA’OWN. This is not just a place you visit, but a
place where you reside. What is your
Christianity to you? Is it something you
just visit, or is it truly where you live?
Is it something you do sometimes, or is truly who you are?
Now look at the Lord’s response.
Psalms 91:14-16
14 "Because he
has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him
securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 "He will call
upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in
trouble;
I will rescue him and
honor him.
16 "With a long
life I will satisfy him
And let him see My salvation."
If you truly love God, and know His name (it really means to know His person), then you get these “I will’s”. As you learn more about Him, and truly live in the secret place of His protection, He will deliver you, set you securely on high, answer you, be with you in trouble, rescue you, and show you His salvation!
What is Christianity to you? Do you truly KNOW Him, or do you just know ABOUT Him?
