Be Diligent.
Romans 12:10-11
10 Be devoted to one
another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;
11 not lagging
behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;
There are so many Christians today who do not take their relationship with God seriously. God does not want lazy believers; people who simply go to church every week, but ignore Him the rest of the time.
2 Timothy 2:15
15 Be diligent
to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed,
accurately handling the word of truth.
Diligent is the Greek word SPOUDAZO, and it means to exert oneself, to endeavor, to strive towards a goal. The King James Bible actually translates the word as study! You have to make a concerted effort to learn the “word of truth”, so that you will not be ashamed when Jesus Christ comes back:
1 John 2:28
28 Now, little
children, abide in Him, so that when He appears, we may have confidence and not
shrink away from Him in shame at His coming.
It’s very easy to become distracted from the plan of God, and get lazy about your relationship with Him. But God rewards those who diligently seek Him:
Hebrews 11:6
6 And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who (diligently) seek Him.
If you want to have the life that God has planned for you, and the blessings and happiness that come with it, you must be diligent:
Hebrews 6:10-14
10 For
God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown
toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints.
11 And we desire
that each one of you show the same diligence so as to realize the full
assurance of hope until the end,
12
so that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and
patience inherit the promises.
Don’t be sluggish in your relationship with God! He has great things planned specifically for you! Be diligent, set your relationship with God as your first priority, and you can have the “full assurance of confidence” that you can accomplish God’s plan for your life.
