One more mental attitude sin we need to be aware of is the sin of fear.  This does not just mean to be afraid, but also includes worry, anxiety, and insecurity.  When you worry about something in your life, it takes over your mental attitude, and all you can think about is the negative.  It keeps you from focusing on all the good that is in your life.  These sins are not just individual sins, but a complete system of thinking that is contrary to faith in God.

The problem with fear and worry is that they never remain the same.  When you start worrying, it may start small, but it grows like a cancer, and pretty soon you are like Martha:

Luke 10:41

41 But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;

When you are worried, you are simply saying that God cannot handle your concerns!  There is no problem that you can face that God has not known about for all of eternity, and since He loves you, He has provided the solution.

Look how John put it:

1 John 4:18

18 There is no fear in love; (this is AGAPE love, and it refers to the entire system of divine thinking) but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

If you live under the system of thinking of fear and worry, then you are not perfected, or matured, in the thinking of God.  I love this principle that mature love CASTS OUT fear.  As you learn more and more about everything that God has done for you, there will be no room for worry or anxiety!

Psalms 23:4

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I fear no evil, for You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

No matter what kind of problems you may face, no matter what concerns you may have, when you recognize that God is with you, you will not fear, but have comfort!
