Philippians 2:9-11
9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, (Him is Jesus Christ) and bestowed on Him the name (Greek word is ONOMA, and it means title, not just name) which is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Many times we give lip service to the principle of glorifying God. We must understand what it is that glorifies God, and how we can glorify God while we are living as Christians in time.
Ephesians 3:19-21
19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,
21 to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
In verse 19, this is a life that is beyond just knowledge. It’s great to learn what the word of God has to say, but the true Christian life goes beyond just knowing it, to applying it to our everyday life. You have to take the principles you learn, believe them, and then act on them.
In verse 20, we go from the life beyond knowledge to the life beyond our dreams! God is able, and WILLING, to do for us things that are beyond our wildest imagination. When He is able to do these greater things for us, then the natural result is that He gets the glory.
Remember this: what brings glory to God is always what God does! It’s only when He does it and gets the credit that He is glorified!
Isaiah 26:15
15 You have increased the nation, O LORD,
You have increased the nation, You are glorified;
Isaiah 60:21
21 "Then all your people will be righteous;
They will possess the land forever,
The branch of My planting,
The work of My hands,
That I may be glorified.
Even when He gets us out of a jam!
Psalms 50:15
15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble;
I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me."
We can glorify God when He rescues us from trouble.
Face it, we are here to glorify God:
Revelation 4:11
11 "Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created."
Isaiah 43:21
21 "The people whom I formed for Myself
Will declare My praise.
God’s will for our lives is for us to glorify Him. The way we glorify God is to let God do all the work, and get all the credit.
God has already prepared the blessings for us:
Ephesians 1:3
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
1 Corinthians 2:9
9 but just as it is written,
"THINGS WHICH EYE HAS NOT SEEN AND EAR HAS NOT HEARD,
AND WHICH HAVE NOT ENTERED THE HEART OF MAN,
ALL THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM."
Does a child born into a wealthy family get the credit for his success? The same principle applies to us! God is standing by, waiting to give you fabulous blessings beyond what you can imagine. When you grow up enough spiritually to understand that He provides the blessings, and therefore He should get the credit, then God is free to release those blessings to you, and He will be glorified!
