2 Peter 1:2-3
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord;
3 seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.
Maybe it’s just me, but I think the multiplication of grace (CHARIS, the grace of God, basically giving us what we don’t deserve) and peace (EIRENE, not just peace, but prosperity and tranquility) is something I would love to have!
Peter says that that multiplication is found in the knowledge of God. The principle to remember is that this multiplication of grace provides EVERYTHING the believer needs, both for life now and our eternal life. The Christian way of life is all about what God does for us, not about what we do.
Not only does He provide everything pertaining to life, but also to godliness, which is EUSEBEIA, meaning our spiritual life. Everything we need for living life now, and living a spiritual life that glorifies God, has been provided to us by God.
Grace is God’s offensive weapon! He chases us with it:
Psalms 23:6
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness (that’s the Old Testament word for grace) will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Follow is a weak translation. Strong’s dictionary defines the word translated follow:
RADAPH (raw-daf'); to run after (usually with hostile intent); to chase, put to flight, to follow, to hunt, to pursue.

The grace of God will chase you and hunt you down!
Look at David’s perspective on the grace of God:
1 Chronicles 29:13-14
13 "Now therefore, our God, we thank You, and praise Your glorious name.
14 "But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from You, and from Your hand we have given You.
David understands that even what we give to God is only part of what He gave to us, and therefore He should get all the credit! Paul talks about this same principle:
1 Corinthians 4:7
7 For who regards you as superior? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
It’s like someone gives you a million dollars, and you give a thousand to your church. What do you have to boast about!?
This principle also applies to the good deeds that we do:
Ephesians 2:10
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
The only thing that impresses God is what God does! Whatever we give to Him, whether it is money, time, talent, or even good deeds, we must recognize this principle:
We are only giving
Him back what He gave us, and He should get the credit.
