Yesterday we looked at the call of Moses, and saw how not to react when God calls you to do something.  We saw his first objection, and how Moses looked at his own perceived weaknesses instead of looking at the character and nature of God.  Moses said, “who am I, Lord?” when the response should have been, “who You are, Lord!”  When God calls you to do something, He is the One whose power will accomplish it!

Today we’ll see round two of Moses versus God.  Here is his second objection.

Exodus 3:13-22

13 Then Moses said to God, "Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I will say to them, "The God of your fathers has sent me to you.' Now they may say to me, "What is His name?' What shall I say to them?"

Moses’ second objection is that he doesn’t have a message for them.  What if they ask me who you are?  Remember, Moses has spent 40 years in the wilderness being prepared by God for this very purpose!  40 years, and he still doesn’t know who God is?!

So God answers Moses’ objection:

14 God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, "I AM has sent me to you.'"

God reminds Moses of His perfect essence.  The doubling of the I AM means perfect existence.  It is imperative that the Jews understand that their deliverance depends ENTIRELY on who and what God is, and not who and what they are!  The Jews are helpless in slavery, and God is going to deliver them in grace.  He reminds Moses, “I am absolutely powerful and I CAN deliver them.”

15 God, furthermore, said to Moses, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, "The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations.

16 "Go and gather the elders of Israel together and say to them, "The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, "I am indeed concerned about you and what has been done to you in Egypt.

Now God reminds Moses that He is the God of their fathers.  He watches over His own.  He has promised them the land flowing with milk and honey, and descendents to enjoy that land.

17 "So I said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite, to a land flowing with milk and honey."'

Imagine the power in those three little words, SO I SAID.  He reminds Moses that He has made a promise to bring them out of Egypt.  What a comfort to know that when God says He will do something, He will!

Romans 4:21

21 and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.

Again, the solution to the objection of Moses is to concentrate on the character and nature of God, and to look at what He has already promised.  God has already promised YOU that when He calls you to do something, He will use His power to accomplish it.  Be fully assured that God will perform what He has promised to perform.
