God is Omnipotent.
Omni (meaning all) and potent (meaning power.) God has the power to accomplish anything.
Psalms 147:5
5 Great is our
Lord and abundant in strength;
His understanding is
infinite.
(I love this verse:)
Isaiah 40:25-26
25 "To whom then
will you liken Me
That I would be his
equal?" says the Holy One.
26 Lift up your eyes
on high
And see who has
created these stars,
The One who leads
forth their host by number,
He calls them all by
name;
Because of the
greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
Not one of them is
missing.
God is absolutely limitless in His power. Take a look at the universe around you. Think about all the principles we are just now learning about our own DNA. Think about the orbit of the earth around the sun. Why do the stars not collide? How does a delicate ecosystem continue to function? How do our bodies work? All these things were created and are sustained by God:
Hebrews 1:3a
3 And He is the
radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds
all things by the word of His power.
When you consider all that God has accomplished, and what it takes to uphold and keep all these things functioning, you start to get an idea of what kind of power God really has. As God says, there is nothing that He cannot do!
Jeremiah 32:27
27 "Behold, I am
the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?"
Luke 1:37
37
"For nothing will be impossible with God."
Now take that principle of the omnipotence of God, and apply it to your own tiny problems. If God has the ability to create and sustain the universe, don’t you know that He has the power to solve your problem? This is how understanding the characteristics of God can help you on a daily basis.
Does He know about your problem? Yes, He has all knowledge.
Can He fix it? Yes, He has all power.
Does He love you? Yes, God IS love!
THEN WHAT ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT?
When we understand His power, we can respond like Job did:
Job 42:2
2 "I know that You can do all things,
And that no purpose
of Yours can be thwarted.
