When we are faced with problems, there is really only one way to solve them, and that’s the way God has given us. But to end up where God wants you to end up, you have to do it His way:
First, you have to admit that you are powerless, and that you need God’s divine power, without which your life becomes completely unmanageable. You might think that you have everything under control, or that you can solve the problem yourself, but God has a way of showing you that you can accomplish nothing without Him.
John 15:5
5 "I am the
vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I
in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
To win in this life, you must first admit defeat! Only the one who recognizes that he can do nothing will be able to do everything! Do you feel like you’re smart enough to handle anything that comes your way?
Proverbs 26:12
12 Do you see a man
wise in his own eyes?
There is more hope
for a fool than for him.
You have to realize first that you are absolutely powerless to accomplish anything without divine power.
Galatians 6:3
3 For
if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
Second, you have to come to believe that there is a power greater than yourself that can restore you to spiritual reality. It’s so easy to look at problems with the natural human viewpoint, and try to solve them ourselves based on our own wisdom and power. But God tells us not to live that way:
2 Corinthians 5:7
7 for we walk by
faith, not by sight --
When you recognize your own helplessness, and learn to depend on the power of God in every circumstance, then you can have this attitude:
Job
15 "Though He slay me,
I will hope in Him.
Esther 4:16
16 … and if I perish,
I perish."
When you face problems, recognize that God is always there with you. He has provided in His Word every solution to every problem that He has always known we were going to face. The key for us to get through the problem is to have absolute confidence in the power of God, not our own power.
This power of God begins at the Cross.
1 Cor
18 For the word of
the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being
saved it is the power of God.
