Proverbs 23:7
7 For as he thinks within himself, so he is.
1 Samuel 16:7
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
The word “heart” in the above passages refers to the place where you make your decisions. So many Christians today simply worry about what they look like to other people. But what matters is what you have in your soul; that’s what God looks at!
Look what David said:
Psalms 56:3-4
3 When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You.
4 In God, whose word I praise, (It’s the word that
can save you from fear!)
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere man do to me?
If what’s important to God is not the outward, but the inside where we make our decisions, then we need to be sure to put the right things into our brains! Jesus was very clear about this:
Luke 8:18
18 "So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has shall be taken away from him."
Mark
24 And He was saying to them, "Take care what you listen to. By your standard of measure it will be measured to you; and more will be given you besides.
It all comes back to that computer term, GIGO. That means garbage in, garbage out. The same thing applies in reverse: WIWO – Word of God in, Word of God out!
We really should be careful of what we listen to or read or watch, because whatever you have going in to your thinking is what will control you. That’s why putting in the Word of God on a consistent basis is SO important.
For when we build up the right thing, and put God’s word first, then you will have this attitude Paul speaks of in Romans 8.
Romans 8:35-39
35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or
sword?
36 Just as it is written,
"FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED."
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, (or anything in between) nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Then we can live in:
John 8:31-32
31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, "If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine;
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."
When we focus on filling our thinking with the Word of God, then we can live in that life that God wants for us, free from fear and worry.
