So you’ve made the Word of God your first priority in life. You’re continuing to grow spiritually, and seeing the benefit when you can use the things you’ve learned to get you through your daily problems. You’re confident and relaxed in your relationship with God. Now is the time to be careful!
2 John 8-9
8 Watch yourselves,
that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you
may receive a full reward.
9 Anyone who goes too
far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the
one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son.
Don’t be one of the people who get excited about the Word of God and about a real relationship with Him, and then get distracted and fall away:
Galatians 5:4
4 You have been
severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have
fallen from grace.
Have fallen here is the Greek word EKPIPTO. It means to drift off of a course. God has a specific course and plan for your life, but to stay on that course, and in that plan, you have to stay with the Word of God.
Many believers do not follow the course of God’s plan for their life. Remember, God has a specific plan laid out for you, {{name}}, and unbelievable blessings waiting when you finish that course. Don’t fall away and fail to receive the full reward. The Word of God has these things to say about people who fall away.
1
Timothy 1:19
19 keeping faith and
a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in
regard to their faith.
James 4:4
4 You adulteresses,
do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God?
Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy
of God.
Philippians 3:18
18 For
many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they
are enemies of the cross of Christ,
These passages are talking about BELIEVERS! Do you want to be considered an enemy of God and of the cross of Jesus Christ?!
Remember, God has a specific course laid out for your life. All it takes for you to accomplish His plan, and receive that full reward, is for you to keep your relationship with God and His Word as your first priority. Then you can have this same attitude that Paul had:
2 Timothy 4:7-8
7 I have fought the
good fight, I have finished the course, I have
kept the faith;
8 in the future
there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the
righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to
all who have loved His appearing.
Watch yourself. Stay the course. Don’t fall out of the plan of God, and you can have that confident anticipation of the full reward laid up for you.
