I guess there are two ways to take this lesson; you can make your decision at the end.

Ever have to deal with judgmental people?

Matthew 7:1-2

1 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.

2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

I like to call this the boomerang principle.  It gives me great comfort to realize that when people judge or criticize me, that their standard of measure will be turned back against them.  Is anyone planning evil against you?  Is there anyone who wants something bad to happen to you?  Look what David says about this:

Psalms 7:15

15 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,

And has fallen into the hole which he made.

Psalms 57:6

6 They have prepared a net for my steps;

My soul is bowed down;

They dug a pit before me;

They themselves have fallen into the midst of it.

Selah.

The word “Selah” means two things:  it is a musical pause, and it is the principle of resting and contemplating on what has just been said.  Rest on the principle that people who have evil plans for you, who are trying to hurt you, will fall into their own pit!

Proverbs 26:27

27 He who digs a pit will fall into it,

And he who rolls a stone, it will come back on him.

Imagine yourself as the road runner.  There is an evil coyote out there pushing a rock down a hill at you, but instead the rock goes around one of those unique cartoon rock formations, and lands on the coyote’s head!  The best part about it is that the road runner never even sees it.  The protection from God related to this principle is exactly the same.

There may very well be people out there trying to hurt you in some way, and you may never even know how well God took care of you.

Job 5:21a

21 "You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue,

I like to take this lesson simply as a reminder of the protection that God has related to people judging us.  But of course, it is also a warning to us about judging others! When you do, your own standard of measure will be used against you.  Look at it this way: I don’t want to be the person that has that rock I pushed landing on my own head.

Luke 6:37

37 "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; pardon, and you will be pardoned.
