Justice.
The next characteristic of God that we will look at is His justice. God is fair – it is impossible for Him to be unfair.
2 Chronicles 19:7
7 "Now then let the fear of the LORD be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the LORD our God will have no part in unrighteousness or partiality or the taking of a bribe."
Romans 2:11
11 For there is no partiality with God.
Psalms 19:9
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether.
God is incapable of being unfair. He is not able to compromise His justice, even in order to provide us with salvation. Many people like to see God as a God of love only, but if He saved us just because He loved us, then His justice would be compromised. In perfect justice, someone had to pay the penalties for sin. Since Jesus Christ received the punishment of sin for us, then God is now free to pardon and justify the sinner who accepts His saving grace. Therefore, it is actually the justice of God that releases the love of God to us!
1 Peter 2:24
24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.
If you are ever in a situation that seems like God is being unfair, recognize that since He is perfect justice, He is unable to be unfair! You may not understand the situation, but all His judgments are perfect:
Deuteronomy 32:4
4 "The Rock! His work is perfect,
For all His ways are just;
A God of faithfulness and without injustice,
Righteous and upright is He.
